CONNECTING RESEARCH THROUGH STORYTELLING

Thomas Hayes Mayo Lab

Founded in 2022 as part of the University of Mississippi’s William Magee Institute for Student Wellbeing and operating within the Jackie and Faser Triplett Research Center, The Thomas Hayes Mayo Lab is named for a beloved Ole Miss student who died at 21 of fentanyl poisoning. Through innovative programming, including a podcast that combines groundbreaking research with engaging discussions, The Mayo Lab equips parents, educators and students to start conversations that transform and save lives.

The Mayo Lab seeks to be recognized as one of the country’s go-to places for practical, research-backed information about mental health and addiction among young people. They hope to serve as a model for other organizations working to solve this epidemic and save lives.

When The Mayo Lab launched, it sought to reach American parents, guardians, educators at all levels, and students ranging from kindergarten through college.
